MDM Exposed! Reverend John B. Wang

This is an article sent to me from Beckie for publication regarding Maria Divine Mercy. Father Wang, a Catholic priest, outlines the MDM fallacies.
  • Dear Family of Prayer,

We in Missoula have had challenges with some people seriously attacking our Holy Father Pope Francis. Some of the language and ideas used in attempting to undermine his legitimate authority and role as Vicar of Christ connect with the alleged prophecies of Maria Divine Mercy. I, therefore, perused and copied messages which Fr. Wang analyzed so he could discern if they were true or false. That email will be forthcoming.

Please remember Fr. Wang has been a priest for nearly sixty years now. He has depth of knowledge, is a well-informed scholar in Sacred Scripture, dogmatic theology, Mariology, and mystical theology as well as having a J.U.D., Doctor of both civil and canon law. He is a brilliant, humble, prayerful, and wise man truly guided by the Holy Spirit in discernment as he has investigated numerous private revelations, both past and current.

I also researched additional articles which you can find on the internet pointing out the gross errors replete in the alleged messages of Maria Divine Mercy. In addition, I discovered seminars have been conducted in large cities throughout Australia (in the spring) and the United States (this summer).

We alert you: this movement constitutes a very serious and aggressive attack on our Church. Incredibly, people are being fooled.

Please spread this news far and wide. Join us in upholding our Faith, our Church and our Holy Father at this time in salvation history.

    God’s Peace and Blessings,   Beckie

    MDM EXPOSED
     By Rev. John B. Wang, M.A.T., Ph.D., J.U.D.
MDM stands for Maria Divine Mercy, a pseudonym assumed by an alleged Irish woman, who claims to receive messages from Heaven. However, this writer believes that MDM is just a front, behind which there are some ghost writers, who are enemies of the Catholic Church and of Pope Francis. Very probably the Lefebvre group or some arch-conservatives are behind this plot. These people are favorable to Pope Benedict XVI who had bent over backwards to tolerate them. But they have been attacking Pope Francis, a holy, humble person, legitimately elected to the chair of Peter, to lead the Church on our journey of salvation.

Despite repeated condemnation by Church authorities around the world (Europe, Australia, and America), MDM has succeeded in deceiving many souls, and continues to do so. There are MDM followers in this area too. They are persistently spreading the virus. To prevent further spiritual damage, this writer deems it necessary to expose the main errors of MDM, so that innocent souls and minds can be protected. May the archangels lead us in this battle! Here are some discoveries from sporadic reading of the MDM messages:

     - April 5, 2013: In this message, MDM claims immunity from being judged. This is a self-imposed protection. This would mean that one can freely spread weeds in the fields of wheat without being stopped. Evidently, MDM has been judged unfavorably by Church authorities. A cheap shot!

-March 9, 2013: In this message, MDM says that the pope has to stay in office till he dies, “one pope in one lifetime.” This is wrong, because Canon 332 §2 provides the possibility for a pope to resign from his office. This statement alone by MDM clearly shows that the MDM messages are not from Jesus. Because Jesus is not ignorant; Jesus knows Canon Law. In the same message MDM implies that Pope Francis is one of the false imposters who preside over Jesus’ Throne in Rome. What an audacious and blasphemous assertion! To call a legitimately elected pope an imposter?! Jesus would never do such things. How can one take the MDM messages seriously?

-March 13, 2013. The day Pope Francis was elected and accepted his election, MDM put an outrageous message in the mouth of our Divine Savior. It is truly incredible! It is hard and painful to read such rubbish! Just think, to call the Cardinal electors betrayers, heretics, accusers of Jesus, and the new pope an impostor. How evil and wicked these fabricators of MDM can be! Yet, there are souls who believe them and blindly follow them! What stupidity! May God have mercy on them all!

    -April 12, 2013: Two statements:

    1. “Benedict XVI is the last true Pope on earth.” This is a ridiculous, gratuitous, unfounded, unproven, daring assertion, not worthy of rebuttal. The Church will last till the end of time and the end of time is not here, therefore, Pope Benedict XVI cannot be the last pope.

    2. “The Cardinal electors are wolves in sheep’s clothing.” This would mean that the highest hierarchy of the Catholic Church, the successors of the apostles, is comprised of wolves. Readers, are you aware how heinous and abominable these MDM enemies of the Church are? They are out to destroy us. But the Catholic Church is founded on solid rock, and the gates of hell will never prevail.

-July 22, 2-13: Four preposterous declarations.

    1. “Benedict XVI was removed from office.” Totally false. Benedict himself made it crystal clear that he himself made the decision to resign after prayerful consideration, for his physical stamina would no longer allow him to fulfill the tasks required by his Petrine office.

    2. “Twenty evil men controlled the church and elected a man not of God.” Twenty evil men? Who are they? There were over 100 cardinal electors, and Pope Francis needed two thirds of the votes. I’d like some proof about the existence of these twenty evil men.

    3. “The pope must remain in office till he dies.” Wrong. Please see my comment on the March 9, 2013 message.

    4. “Pope Francis is an imposter.” This is a vile and odious designation of a holy man. The above devious and foul statements are put into the mouth of our most pure Virgin Mother. These individuals who falsified these messages truly provoke God’s wrath and deserve severe punishment.

I have just become aware that many articles have been already written and study has been done by reputable individuals about the falsehood of MDM. Hence, there is no need for me to continue this exposé. Please consult the appropriate links about this subject. Thank you and God bless. Pray for our Church and defend our faith!

P.S. It seems that the whole MDM charade is based on an apocalyptic belief that the world is ending and that the Biblical predictions are being fulfilled. Over the years, the Jehovah’s Witnesses have had similar expectations. But these anticipations have been proven mere illusion, delusion, or hallucination. IF Jesus does come, it would be His intermediary coming as portrayed in the Book of Revelation Chap. 20, not His final coming which is hidden to human knowledge. The Illumination of Conscience, the so-called Mini-Judgment, the Chastisement, the Purification, the Spiritual Springtime are expected. But, this is NOT the end of the world, the NOT the end of time. Life on earth will continue. Furthermore, make sure be loyal to the Holy Father, the representative of Jesus Christ. Otherwise, you would place yourself outside of the Church Jesus founded. Ubi Petrus, ibi Ecclesia.

MDM Prohibited by Bishop Malone of the Diocese of Portland, Maine,U.S.A.

Bishop Richard J. Malone has prohibited the dissemination of the Maria Divine Mercy messages. Here is the text of his letter to pastors, and below that are photos of the actual letter:

Dear Monsignor/Father:

Recently an inquiry was (sic) been made relative to some materials that are being disseminated through the website www.thewarningsecondcoming.com.  The website contains the writings of “Maria Divine Mercy” which is the pseudonym of an anonymous woman who reportedly lives in Dublin and who claims to be a Roman Catholic and to be “receiving spiritual guidance from the Catholic Church.”  Since some of the “messages” promote negative attitudes towards the teachings of the Second Vatican Council and of the Papacy, I have made further inquiry as to the “authenticity” of these alleged revelations.

Through the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, an inquiry was made of the Irish Catholic Conference to see if the Irish Bishops had issued any guidance.  Some of the Irish Bishops had no knowledge of these revelations and none had made any statements. However, since the individual uses a pseudonym and is anonymous, it is difficult to investigate.  However, there have been other statements made by other bishops. In particular, Bishop Mark Coleridge of Brisbane, Australia has stated: “I have examined some of these messages and found them to be patently fraudulent and corrosive of the true Christian faith as the Catholic Church teaches it.  The Alleged recipient of the messages operates anonymously and refuses to identify and present herself to local Church authority for a theological examination of the content of her messages. The messages contain certain theological and historical errors some of which fall within the category of bogus millenarianism, and they are more likely to provoke fear rather than the peace of the Spirit.  They play on elements of the Catholic Faith only to undermine it at its core.  Moreover, they are outrageous in their claims against Pope Francis.  Therefore, the messages of Maria Divine Mercy are not to be taken seriously, discussed or distributed within the Archdiocese of Brisbane.”

Additionally, both the National Catholic Register and New advent have posted negative evaluations of the Maria Divine Mercy revelations which can be found at http://www.ncregister.com/blog/jimmy-akin/9-things-you-need-to-know-about-maria-divine-mercy and http://blog.newadvent.org/2013/03/a-closer-look-at-false-prophecies-of.html  .

Given the fact that the Church has not yet pronounced on the authenticity of these “revelations”, and given the fact that more than one bishop has judged them to undermine the Catholic faith at its very core, I hereby prohibit the dissemination or promotion of Maria Divine Mercy materials in the Diocese of Portland. If anyone approaches you or you are aware of anyone in your parish that is speaking about or promoting these materials please make them aware of this prohibition.  This ban will be in effect, until such time as the “revelations” are authenticated by the Church.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.  Thank you for your ministry to your parishioners and for your commitment and fidelity to the Church.

May God bless you with His peace.  Please know that you are in my prayers.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend Richard J. Malone

Apostolic Administrator of Portland

Bishop of Buffalo

MDM Leads to Grave Sin: Bishop Fabbro, London Diocese, Ontario, Canada

Another bishop warns the faithful against following Maria Divine Mercy:

Message from PocketSketch

This letter from Bishop Fabbro of the London diocese is the first warning of a Canadian bishop against MDM. I heard rumors of it earlier but it was only today that I received a hard copy of it as it appeared in parish bulletins locally. It has not been officially posted on the diocesan website even though the excitement over this seer is not limited to the one small town mentioned in the message. A lay person, received an invitation to attend this meeting about Marie Divine Mercy which was slated for the feast day of the Assumption of Our Lady, August 15. Already familiar with her notoriety, she alerted a parish priest who then contacted his bishop. The meeting took place regardless, as it seems the notice came too late. The following is the bulletin insert:

Message of Bishop Fabbro

“Bishop Fabbro has been asked concerning a meeting about Maria Divine Mercy which is to take place at a house in Corunna on August 15, 2013.”

“Maria of Divine Mercy is a woman who chooses to remain anonymous and has made claims of alleged privation revelations. Bishop Fabbro warns Catholics of the diocese that Maria of Divine Mercy has not received the Church’s approval. Indeed, Catholic bishops who have studied her teachings have declared that they are heretical and have forbidden priests to be involved with or cooperate in matters associated with Maria of Divine Mercy. Her prophecies contain material that is both false and contrary to Catholic teaching. The faithful should know that adhering to her teachings can result in grave sin.”

“Bishop Fabbro warns Catholics that they should not be involved with Maria of Divine Mercy nor should they give credence to her messages.”

MDM is Wrong Again! Benedict Says God Told Him to Retire

I gave in to necessity and joined Facebook this spring for the purpose of reaching more Catholics to help them understand that the Maria Divine Mercy messages are a scam and they violate uncountable Catholic teachings. In my debates with MDMers, the one prophecy of which they were very proud was this one discussed below, because MDM "received" it exactly one year to the date of Pope Benedict XVI's retirement announcement. So it MUST be true, right? It said he would be "viciously ousted" from the Vatican and would have to "flee" Rome. However, this is not at all the case.  Pope Benedict Emeritus is happily living at the Vatican in full communion with Pope Francis. According to this article , Pope Benedict XVI said God told him to resign from his position as Vicar of Christ. The Maria Divine Mercy messages are FALSE and the ones I urge strongly to FLEE from them...are CATHOLICS as well as all others who love truth in faith.

Benedict says God told him to step down as pope

(Globalpost/GlobalPost)

Vatican City, Aug 20 (EFE).- Benedict XVI said it was God who told him to resign the papacy, Catholic news agency Zenit reported Tuesday.
During one of the few private visits he has granted since his retirement, Benedict, when asked by one of those present why he took that decision, he answered "God told me to," according to Zenit.
It wasn't "any kind of apparition or any phenomenon like that," but rather it was "a mystical experience" in which Our Lord caused to grow in his heart "an absolute desire to remain alone with him, secluded in prayer," the former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger said.

Benedict also commented during the meeting that the more he observes the "charisma" of his successor, Pope Francis, the more he realizes that his decision to resign the papacy was "the will of God."

During these meetings, Zenit said, the pope emeritus "does not make comments or reveal any secrets, he does not make statements that could seem to have the importance of words spoken by the other pope, but maintains the discretion that has always characterized him."
He said that at most, "he observes with satisfaction the marvels that the Holy Spirit is doing with his successor."

Pope to Consecrate World to Our Lady, October 13, 2013

"August 14, 2013. (Romereports.com) The statue of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima will travel all the way from Portugal to the Vatican, where Pope Francis is planning on consecrating the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The 'Marian Day' ceremony, which is scheduled to take place at the Vatican on Sunday, October 13th, will be attended by hundreds of religious movements and institutions that have a special Marian devotion. This Mass is one of the last main events scheduled for the 'Year of Faith.'

Even before that Mass, things will be busy at the Vatican. On Saturday October 12th, different prayer events are scheduled along with a pilgrimage to the tomb of St. Peter. Then on the 13th, Pope Francis will celebrate Mass in St. Peter's Square before thousands of faithful.

The Statue of Our Lady will make its way to Rome, at the request of Pope Francis, who has shown a great devotion to Mary, since the very first day of his pontificate.

The Statue will depart from the Shrine of Fatima on the morning of October 12th. It will make its way back in the afternoon of October 13th."
